Metaverse – the age of new virtual skill begins

It is not a big surprise to all that the technologically advanced world is spreading up like never before.  We always tend to see updates, on a regular basis with almost all the software apps that we use. Facebook is one of the leading social networking giants.

Recently the Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Facebook platform officially renamed his company as Meta. Many of you know the significance of the rebranding of the world’s most famous social media platform. To all those who just got to know, be aware that Facebook name is changed to meta.

You might think what this has been resulting when we connect ourselves with the present day AI led world. I would say this is where we must understand the power of the internet and social media.

Meta the new change

One must see that renaming a Facebook name to Meta is not a company’s internet affair any more.  It actually means change in our ways of interaction both within ourself and interrelationship. By signaling the rebrand of Facebook Mark Zackerburg had opened up unimaginable possibilities. Following are the key possibilities or changes which the Meta has brought to us or will be bringing in the future.

The Meta platform has the following product.

• Facebook app
• Messenger
• Instagram
• Whatsapp
• Oculus
• Portal
• Novi

Among the above listed products, the last three might be new to us but here is here is a bit of an understanding. Oculus is a virtual reality enabling connectivity for the people to defy distance – work, connect, etc. Portal is a family video calling device that makes easier connectivity among family members and friends.

Novi is a digital wallet that helps to send and receive money internationally. It uses USDP (Pax Dollar), a digital currency which runs securely with blockchain technology.

What kinds of technology meta brings.

• Virtual Reality
• Augmented Reality
• Smart Glasses

The key difference between VR and AR is that the former is connected with the real world setting and the latter is connected with virtual reality. Smart glasses allow us to interact with one another, and can record audio and video at a click.

Are we heading to Meta Skill?

Already much of a debate is going on machine learning vs human skill. It is feared by many that machines will overtake humans in the working atmosphere. If there is tangible evidence that machines or automation wipes  employment opportunities there is also an equal opportunity. Humans have to re-skill and upskill in order to sustain in their AI led work atmosphere. In fact in its recent report “ The future of jobs report 2020” world economic forms predict that 97 millions jobs will be generated by 2025. The same report also states that 85 million jobs will be lost.

Amidst this situation of automation Vs human employment, companies like Meta poses even more significant challenge as we re energise ourself with latest technology there is also a direct reskilling and upskilling our skill sets, human skill sets.

It is beyond doubt that we live in an age of updates, install and uninstall. That too at a quick and faster rate. This brings us to speed up our skill learning related to latest technological development. No generation at present exempts itself from tech notch. Even if one is left out, he or she is forced to get at least an urge to get updated to the present day terms of technology.

In the United States and also in the European Union they have already been questioned on many fronts of privacy. Not only this, the role that these companies play in Election Campaigns, Companies product ads, problems related to hacking and financial security are few to mention.

It might be the world of possibilities but it is also the world of impossible. Technology has cutting edge advantages over our lives. There are places where technology is the vital aspect of today’s world. The immediate need is to recalibrate ourselves to changing the world by safeguarding our privacy and mental health. More importantly, upskillng, reskilling and techskillng.
